Saturday morning we were up bright and early, getting ready for the Litchfield Park Christmas Parade. My oldest has been marching in the parade for six years with her girl scout troop. The Little One and I have tagged along the last couple of years. We bring lawn chairs and find a good vantage point to watch the parade and snatch up candy. After the parade, we meet up at the car and drive home. This time we drove up to a breathtaking sight.
A hawk feasting on a pigeon right in our driveway! And we had a camera!
The hawk flew over into the bushes.
The hawk perched up on the backyard gate. The poor guy kept eyeing us as if to ask, Why are you bothering me while I'm eating lunch? Of course how often does one see a hawk take down prey when there is a camera handy?
Hawk takes down pigeon
Carnage strewn across driveway
Predator and prey

Yikes. That's crazy! Pretty cool though. Nature in action!
